FAQs

How do I get to the camp house?

Great news! All our retreats include the airport shuttles, so all you need is a ticket to Costa Rica and relax 🙂

If you are already in the country, we can arrange pickup and drop off from your location or provide driving advice if desired.

To consider before getting your ticket; there are two international airports in Costa Rica:

~Liberia, Guanacaste: “Daniel Oduber Quiros” International Airport

We recommend this one because it's only 2.5hr drive and makes it easier to bring equipment if it's your choice.

~Alajuela, San José : “Juan Santamaria” International Airport, which is a 5 hour drive.

Tip: If you want to avoid the driving, there is also a local airline that provides flights from both international airports and will drop travel time to 30 min from Liberia and 45 min from San Jose approx.

Keep in mind that these are small planes so only travel bags are allowed, if you plan on bringing your own boards we will pick them up at the international airport and bring them to the camp house for you at no extra cost.

Reach out for more info.

What's the level of attention for each guest when surfing?

We organize our sessions on a 3 guests per coach ratio which allows us to have personalized attention to each need.

Do I need to bring my surf gear?

If you decide to bring equipment we will help with transportation once on Costa Rican land.

Do I need a Passport?

Citizens of the U.S. and Canada and most European countries may enter Costa Rica with a valid passport. Note that Costa Rican law requires your passport to be valid for at least 90 days after the date you enter the country. Check with your airline or travel agent for more information. If you have any doubts you should check with the Costa Rican Consulate in your country about rules governing entrance into Costa Rica.

Do I need a Visa to visit Costa Rica?

Visitors from the USA, Canada and most of the European countries can stay 90 days without applying for a visa. To be certain please check with the CR consulate or Embassy in your home country about any requirements to visit Costa Rica.

What kind of electricity is there in Costa Rica?

If you bring anything electrical, Costa Rica runs on 110 Volts, 60Hz. If you want to bring 220V equipment, a converter is needed. If you need batteries, bring only rechargeable ones if possible please.

Is there an ATM nearby?

Yes.

Is the area safe?

Yes, there is no doubt this is one of the safest towns in the region. As with any vacation spot, there is some petty theft occasionally (flip flops on the beach, etc) but we make sure our guests are safe and secure when joining us on adventures.

Is surfing safe?

No activity is free from danger, riding waves can be dangerous when performed without experience and proper knowledge, and even then accidents can happen.

We are committed to minimize risk by teaching key concepts like spot analysis, safety protocol and mind set. Another important element is knowing your limits: we will help you find a clearer perspective allowing for a smoother and fun evolution on the sport.

Is tap water safe to drink?

Tap water in our area is safe to drink, and we take an extra step of treating our supply with a purification system.
